Once you are arrive you will see that everything else is taken care of for you.

from which you can discover the beautiful island world
of some of the 14 Grenadine islands. You can enjoy sailing
and relaxing at Cabier Ocean Lodge in any order in our
Stay & Sail combination package.
Sail through the little islands of the Grenadines, many
of them only a short distance apart. Enjoy swimming in
clear blue water from the boat in beautiful and often
secluded surroundings and enjoy at Cabier one of the best
unspoiled beaches in Grenada, with natural surroundings
and a relaxing ambience not to mention great cooking throughout
your holiday. There is no better way to experience a real
taste of Caribbean life. The only hard decision you have
to make is which order to do it in!
You can sail on a catamaran or a Dutch schooner. We offer
you a choice of both boats in our great Stay & Sail
combination package.
Sailing
with the catamaran “Perle”:

Catamaran Perle is equipped for up to 6 guests and has
plenty of space and headroom in all the cabins. She is
13 m long and 7m wide, with a panorama lounge, 4 double
cabins, 2 baths and a generous sun deck for getting a
good sun tan and watching the clear blue Caribbean Sea
slide by whilst sipping a rum punch.
Introducing
your crew:
Your captain and crew are the owners, Karl Halbgebauer
and his wife Elisabeth. They have many years experience
of sailing in the Caribbean. Also on board is their friendly
small dog Tassolito.
Karl will be happy to share his sailing knowledge with
interested guests and if you want there will be opportunities
to take the helm. When he is not sailing Karl can also
make you delicious cocktails and Elizabeth will delight
you with her wonderful combination of Continental and
Caribbean cooking.
Diving, snorkel excursions and game fishing are all possible
from on board the Perle with diving equipment and fishing
tackle hired at additional cost. If you do not dive or
fish, then swimming or snorkeling off the boat in clear
water over reefs teeming with colourful marine life is
an experience not to be missed, or you can simply relax
on the sun deck in beautiful surroundings.
Sailing
with the Dutch Schooner “Horta”:

Horta
is a lovely looking boat. A 60’ steel schooner built
in 1992 in Holland. She is a safe, comfortable and spacious
ocean going cruising boat.
Horta has a total sail area of 150 square meters divided
over 5 sails and 2 masts supplemented with a 125 hp 6-cylinder
diesel engine. The electrical system is 110 volt and 220
volt so you can recharge your camera, electric razor,
and if you are so inclined while in paradise, use your
hair dryer.
Introducing your crew:
Captain Harm Brink (53) and his wife Lizzy (50) and the
ship’s cat, Zwerver, ensure you a safe (especially
Zwerver as she does not swim!) enjoyable cruise in the
beautiful Grenadine islands.
Harm has been sailing since the age of 8 in every sort
of sailboat. Harm and Lizzy have been sailing together
since 1985 and have sailed from Holland to Denmark, Germany,
England, France, and Croatia. In 2002 they decided to
sail Horta to the Caribbean and since then have lived
aboard her as their home. Between them Lizzy and Harm
speak English, French, German and of course Dutch.
Because Harm and Lizzy have been sailing the Caribbean
for 7 years, they know exactly what every island has to
offer to make your holiday a dream come true, so you can
be assured of a wonderful trip of exploration through
the beautiful Grenadines.
Both Harm (who is a Master Mechanic) and Lizzy continually
maintain Horta in pristine sailing condition so Horta
is always ship-shape. They take turns at the helm when
they are underway and are qualified for ocean sailing.
Guests can also take a turn at the wheel if they so wish.
Harm will also offer snorkeling lessons to guests so they
can enjoy the coral reefs, especially at Tobago Cays where,
depending on the time of year, you can sometimes o swim
near the turtles. Diving equipment is hired from the island
dive shops.
Lizzy takes care of all guests comforts and creates her
tropical culinary delights three times a day to the continual
surprise and delight of her guests.
Horta has plenty of deck space so you can sit and relax
and enjoy the magnificent Caribbean sunsets over a cocktail
or rum punch, and then eat dinner under the canopy of
a million stars.
SAILING
SCHEDULE
For the 4 day trip both boats start from Carriacou. Guests
take the morning ferry from St George’s and will
be at Hillsborough/Carriacou around 10.30/11.00 to meet
their boat. The ferry trip in itself is an experience
as you leave St George’s – considered to be
the most beautiful harbour in the Caribbean - and slip
past the whole length of the coast of Grenada. The ferry
back leaves at 15.30 from Hillsborough/Carriacou and arrives
back at 17.00 at St George’s.
For the 7 day trip the boats can pick up guests at St
George but we recommend you go on the ferry to Carriacou.
The passage between Grenada and Carriacou can require
for some serious sailing for smaller boats and it can
take a whole day to sail to Carriacou. The ferry only
takes 90 minutes, so taking it will increase your sailing
time in the Grenadines.
ITINERARY
Typically Carriacou, Union, Mayreau, Tobago Cays and Petit
St Vincent are visited on the 4 day sailing trip with
more islands added with the 7 night trip. Both trips include
the following itinerary.
First of all you explore Union island and moor overnight.
The next day there is a short sail to the tiny island
of Mayreau for a swim and a walk to the top of the island
with its great views of other islands. After lunch you
sail to Tobago Cays, a group of tiny islands and shallow
inlets with crystal clear water, coral reefs and colourful
Caribbean fish. You stay overnight in the Cays and on
the 4 day trip either go to Petit St Vincent (PSV) the
next day or if you wish, stay an extra night in the Cays
to carry on enjoying the reefs, swimming and snorkeling.
It is your choice - and your crew is happy to be flexible
– it is after all your trip!
The 7 day trip will carry on up the Grenadines and visit
more islands before coming back to Carriacou.
Both itineraries can be subject to change due to weather
conditions and guest requirements but the captain’s
decision is final in all circumstances.
